The recommended dose is one tablet a day. - Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don't feel an improvement immediately. - You may need to take Nexium 24HR for a few days before experiencing the full effect. - Nexium 24HR should be taken for at least 7 days and up to 14 days. - Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you do not feel better while taking Nexium 24HR. Nexium is used to treat symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Esomeprazole is also used to treat esophagitis.

NEXIUM 20mg tablets may be taken on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal) or with a meal. You should take about 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal.

Take the medication at the same time each day to maintain its effectiveness. Do not take more than once per day. The dose may be increased to 20mg or decreased to 5mg based on your specific needs.

The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Children's dosage is also based on weight.

The use of Nexium may increase your chance of a stomach ulcer or stomach bleeding. If you get any stomach side effects, stop taking Nexium and call your doctor at once.

Take the medication with a full glass of water (8 hours after a meal).

If you have trouble sleeping, you may take this medication.

Take this medication with food to prevent it spreading to the stomach.

Contraindications

Sulfonamide medications including antacids and certain antibiotics can sometimes cause increased frequency of toothbrushes.
